Kujou Masaya (known as Maya, born in 1996) has shown extraordinary musical talent since early childhood.He began studying classical piano at the age of three, quickly developing an expressive ability far beyond his years. By the time he was in elementary school, he could already perform challenging works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff with remarkable precision and emotion.

At the age of ten, he became fascinated with jazz, immersing himself in the recordings of Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk. Guided by his mentor, he came to see music not merely as technique but as a form of philosophy, blending emotion with intellect. Around the same time, he taught himself guitar, absorbing influences from rock, blues, and jazz standards, and refining them into his own distinctive style.

By fifteen, he had already mastered Santana’s technique and established his own unique tone — a fusion of the melancholy of blues and the passion of Latin rock. Whether in improvisation or composition, his performances carried an overwhelming presence that no one could ignore.

From the age of thirteen onward, Maya also began composing his own music. He built a world that intertwined the precision of classical music, the freedom of jazz, the explosive power of rock, and the spontaneity of improvisation. His playing was never about technical display — it felt as though he was in direct dialogue with music itself.

One night at Blue Note Tokyo, Luna witnesses Maya speaking fluent French with a French guitarist — the same musician holding a guitar that Maya himself had once given him in Europe. Every gesture and phrase hints at a shadow of time spent abroad, an unspoken past that lingers behind his calm expression.

Despite his overwhelming talent, little is known about Maya’s private life or true background. The constant presence of his personal secretary, Kousaka Risa, only deepens the mystery surrounding him. Even during rehearsals, Risa occasionally delivers calm, unrelated updates — suggesting that there may be a larger, hidden world behind Maya’s music.
